Predator Orion

I’ve had the ümnitza Predator Chromiums for maybe 2 years and have gone through 2 sets of rings and 2 ballasts, and I also hate the cold weather issues. Recently my driver’s side angel eyes quit working. Perhaps I did a bad soldering job, but this time I made sure I would do it cleaner and add additional insulation.

I ordered the 60-LED Orions as soon as I heard about them, and it was a pretty easy upgrade. Instead of using the plugs they provided, I soldered the wires, then shrink wrapped and insulated, then more layers of electrical tape!

Right out of the box, I noticed the LEDs (when off) have a slight yellow tint to them which bothered me. However, after installation, it will no longer be visible.

The one complaint is the wires direct from the rings are too short. The DRL ring leaves enough length, but the HID ring barely makes it out the rear. The multi-level clipping system is awesome! I wanted to re-adjust the depth but felt like I can never remove the clip again, which is a good thing. It was an extremely tight fit while reassembling my headlight casing, which I thought was good too because it meant a more snug fit and less chance for the rings to vibrate. This time around the rings absolutely feels more solid and unlikely to break, unlike the Chromiums.

I’ve been driving with these new lights for 2 days and I love them. Yes, you can definitely see the individual LEDs if you’re up close, but it’s still very bright during the day and ridiculously bright at night. The standard color rings have a higher color temperature than my stock 5k HIDs. Looking at the rings at night is pretty much like looking at bright halogen bulbs, it’s that bright. The rings also fades nicely on and off with the remote, and they don’t flicker like in the videos. I believe the flickering is a camera issue as I tried making a video myself.

So far absolutely no cold weather issues with low 20’s to low 40’s temperature here in NJ. Photos taken with a Sony DSC-W170.

Victoria, Miami day 4

Victoria is Swiss, Irish, and Cuban, and she is signed by NEXT agency in Miami. She had the most upbeat energy out of all the other models, which create a different vibe in the photographs. As much as I love intimate and sensual photos, I started my modeling photography looking for happy-playful characters and have always loved the results. It is a rare treat to find someone who can be photogenic while being silly in front of the lens. When I want to create playful-sexy photos, I think about Alessandra Ambrosio’s Victoria’s Secret photos. Victoria also happens to have the most freckles on any girls I’ve ever captured, and that might have been one of the reasons for choosing her. One thing you might notice in my photos is that I love sheer tops and soft, light fabrics. It falls easily on the skin, and just as easily falls off the skin. With the proper lighting, it also shines through the fabric to reveal the silhouette of the body. Sheer fabrics also convey the sense of warmth and comfort.

These photos were taken at the same secret location on the next day. The number one reason why I chose the location was the outside bath tub, which really wasn’t private at all. All photos are 100% natural light.

Mah, Miami day 3

Mah has been modeling for over a year. We shot at the secret hotel which I can’t publish the name of. It was great running around shooting in such wonderful weather with lots of lush green grass, trees, and white curtain walls lining the perimeter. You could tell she was experienced by her gracefulness and playfulness in front of a camera. The camera just makes her smile instantly, in a very seducing way… or perhaps it was directed at me. We were both quiet people, so we let the camera and her poses do all the talking for us and we had an awesome conversation. Our photo session was during Christmas Day.

The indoor photos were lit with AlienBee modeling lamps and umbrellas. The 100 watt bulbs are rather dim especially through an umbrella, so I always use prime lens wide open.

Amber, Miami day 2

I drove my ridiculously over priced rental car to Pompano Beach to shoot with Amber. Instead of shooting at the beach as originally planned, we ended up shooting at her home which was a very unique location. It was also pouring in intervals so we would shoot, run for cover, shoot, repeat. At least my 1D and L lens are weather sealed, so I would still shoot in the rain as long as my camera wasn’t saturated with water. The road that lead up to her house was unpaved dirt, and her first floor was a garage/machine shop. She owns two Jeeps which we shot with one of them, and made the most out of the machine shop. She is a gear head and had no problems smearing actual grease onto her body, and I also had her assistant grind aluminum in the background to create the sparks.

The outdoor photos were taken with a Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS, and the indoors were with a Canon 50mm 1.4 USM. Wardrobe used in this project, one orange bikini, wifebeater

Veronica, Miami day 1

Veronica. How can you go wrong with a name like Veronica. She is a mix of Chinese and Hungarian. We had our session at the Pelican Hotel in Miami. This was one of the easiest and most enjoyable shoots in Miami because we just had so much chemistry. The other model I was traveling with was able to share some of Veronica as well.
