Back to the Rockhouse

I’ve been to the Rockhouse twice and it is by far one of my favorite destination wedding locations. A beach wedding can be anywhere and look all the same, but the Rockhouse is so unique and secluded, it seems like a world in it’s own.

Storm over Manhattan

The moment I saw flashes outside my window, I grabbed my 5D with 16-35mm 2.8L, remote and tripod. I wanted to create a time lapse, so each frame had to be fast enough shutter to allow enough frames, rather than low ISO and long shutter speeds. Each frame is ISO 400, f/13 at 5.6 seconds. The view is out my balcony in Fort Lee, NJ.

A Date with Christine

After a handful of dinners and photo shoots together, our friendship moved up to a new level where we could have serious conversations about our dating lives (or a lack thereof). Christine gave me some good pointers on dating. I think there is a median between being an old-school-gentleman and an all-out-player that women look for. Do all the necessary gentleman-y things, such as opening doors, paying for dinner, walking the girl back to her place, throwing your jacket over a puddle. However, if you only do those things, but never walk on the aggressive line, women will only see you as such a nice friend. That’s pretty much been my position my entire life, the best guy friend a woman could have. Christine’s advice was to be more aggressive and make the move! Grab her hand while walking down the street, engage in more physical contact with her, and ultimately land a kiss on those lips. While I know these actions are necessary, I always assumed these would come naturally after a few dates. I now realize some girls mandate the aggressive moves within the first two to three dates or else they lose the interest. I could probably count the number of opportunities I’ve missed, but fortunately time is on my side, and it’s always better that I’ve learned now than later. It’s ironic how my job gives me the authority to tell others when to kiss or not, yet it’s been two years since I’ve given one myself.
